Trackity vs the alternatives
For most online shops there are now 3 or so tools to choose from to track conversions, the pixel from your previous tooling, a generic server-side tracking solution and the new kid on the block, Trackity. Here's a complete comparison between the three.
What you get, where
| Capability | Trackity | Typical server-side tool | Browser / pixel only |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server-side event tracking Events sent from your server, not the browser | Limited | - | |
| Bypasses ad blockers, ITP and iOS limits Recover conversions the pixel never sees | Limited | - | |
| Dual client + server reconciliation Two layers de-duplicated into one source of truth | - | - | |
| 99%+ data accuracy Versus below 60% for browser-only setups | Limited | - | |
| Multi-touch attribution See every touchpoint, not just last click | Limited | - | |
| Enhanced match keys to ad platforms Better signal for Meta, Google and TikTok | Limited | Limited | |
| First-party and GDPR / CCPA ready First-party, privacy-first by design | Limited | - | |
| 5-minute, no-code setup Connect your store and channels, go live | - | Manual | |
| Built for Shopify and WooCommerce Native, maintained integrations | Limited | Limited |
All server-side tools have different capabilities per vendor and per plan. This overview is meant to describe typical browser only functionality and typical functionality of server-side tools. This overview is not intended to describe any specific product.
The pixel is leaking, and it is getting worse
A standard browser-based tracking pixel uses cookies, and also relies on client-side scripts to track user behavior. Given that many users now use ad blockers to protect themselves from intrusive online advertising, and in addition ITP/Safari on iOS now by default blocks all tracking scripts, there is a significant barrier to browser-based tracking.
The worst case scenario here is that all the events tracked by the browser pixel for individual users are never seen by the ad platforms as conversions because they have been blocked by the user, or their device. This would be a significant loss of potential revenue for an online store.
- The same goes for the server-side tracking. As server-side events are being sent, they are not affected by blockers like Ad blockers, Safari ITP and iOS.
- Recover up to 40% of the conversions that your current tracking pixel is losing.
- Keep a client layer as well and ensure that it doesn't double-count anything that the server layer has already counted.
Server-side is not the same as accurate
Just having a server connection does not equal accurate tracking. You need to run both a pixel and a server layer and then in the end, you have to reconcile and enrich the resulting signal.
Dual layer, not server-only
There are a lot of tools on the market that will swap out your pixel for a server layer of data but in doing so lose the browser context that the pixel collected.
Trackity on the other hand tracks data from both the server connection and the browser and then reconciles and de-duplicates the resulting dataset of customer behavior.
Match quality built in
Enhanced, privacy-safe match keys are sent with every event, so Meta, Google and TikTok attribute and optimize in the best way possible.
Live in 5 minutes
There are a lot of tracking solutions out there. This one is designed to go live in 5 minutes or less. No need for a developer, no need for a container to deploy, no need to use tag manager to manage the tags. Just connect your store(s), connect your online marketing channels, and within minutes or so you will start tracking.
Switching questions, answered
Yes. It Reconciles your existing client side tracking (pixel, tag manager, etc) with a new enriched server side layer on top of that which it tracks. You get to keep what already works for you, and also get the conversions you've been missing.
Server side connections like Trackity are typically implemented by a developer who replaces the existing pixel with a new code to track.
Trackity however maintains the client tracking layer as well as the new server side layer, and then it removes the duplicates by matching the relevant match keys from the events. This results in reconciled and enriched data with improved accuracy of matches over 99%+.
We have enabled over 1,000 stores on our free plan in less than 5 minutes with no code. All you have to do is connect your Shopify or WooCommerce store(s), connect the marketing channels you want to track and measure the true impact those marketing channels have on your online store's growth.
No, all the converted sales will be reported out as single orders on all of the connected platforms, after the conversions have been reconciled between the server and client layer events.
